Like Carnival's seven other Fantasy class ships, the Paradise is part of the "Evolutions of Fun" ship refurbishment series, set to be completed by the end of 2009. All Fantasy class ships are undergoing numerous upgrades, with new designs, features to pool common areas and the creation of adults only deck areas. The ships will also have fully remodeled staterooms and suites, complete with new bathrooms and flat-screen televisions to bring a complete modern look and feel to each cabin. Additions will include atrium lobby bars, coffee bars, and miniature golf courses, with a portion of the refurbishment already completed on the Paradise. Once the renovations are fully completed, the ship will be renamed Carnival Paradise, to keep it in line with the other Carnival brand ships.

The Size of the Carnival Paradise Ship

The Paradise was built in 1998, a 70,367-ton, 855 foot megaship with a beam of 103 feet, 10 passenger decks, passenger capacity of 2,052, double occupancy, and a total crew of 920.

Carnival Paradise Entertainment & Onboard Ambience

The ship sails on 3 and 4 day Baja Mexico cruises from Long Beach, California. Current configuration has the Paradise rising seven decks, with a six story, glass domed atrium displaying large works of art and centered around a circular bar, with the indoor promenade surrounded with a disco, lounges, casino, bars, nightclubs and 14 elevators. Vegas style entertainment is in the 1,300 seat main show room and in the 541-seat show lounge at the rear of the ship. Located throughout the ship are ten bars and lounges, a piano bar, cafe, disco, video game room, conference center, library, boutiques, a large spa and a beauty salon. For the outdoor ethusiasts are three pools, six whirlpools, jogging track, shuffleboard and health club. A supervised youth program, Camp Carnival for ages 2-11 is offered year-round.

Delicious Dining on the Paradise Ship

To please your appetite are dining choices in two window-lined dining rooms forward and aft, at a lido dining area,seating 570 for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and in a 24-hour pizzeria. A choice of four sittings for dinner are now available in the main dining rooms as part of a new flexible dining program, and room service can also be ordered.

Excellent Cabin Space

The 1,026 cabins come in 12 categories and feature televisions, phones, stereos, and bathrooms, with most staterooms having twin beds. Once completed, the refurbished Carnival Paradise will please the 3 or 4 day cruising client in comfort and style.

The extra-large Category 12 suites are located midship on Deck 6 (Upper Deck), and are nicely furnished with a bar, large sofa and full-sized whirlpool tub. The balcony is deep and wide, perfect for lazing around outdoors on warm days. The Category 11 suites are slightly smaller, located forward on Deck 11 (Verandah Deck), and although similarly furnished, have a smaller balcony and no whirlpool tub.

Even though there are no aft balcony cabins, there are aft cabins with windows over the stern wake. Some of them are handicap-accessible rooms with a modified configuration and less closet space, but most are the same as the side cabins, with a unique viewpoint. The ones in the middle of the six that span the aft have an extra foot or so of depth.
