We're back home and wanted to thank you and Peter for putting this itinerary
together on such short notice and all the very helpful tips b/c we had a wonderful,
wonderful time.
As I mentioned to you originally, we'd done 2 prior cruises - Carnival to the Western
Caribbean and Royal to Alaska but the free style cruise is most in our comfort zone.

First, the bad list...
Visually, the EPIC looked like an apt complex on a ship - it's not the most beautiful
ship we've seen. Though small, the rooms were beautiful from the curved walls to the
wood or faux wood cabinets to the ample shower and storage. Yes, the toilets are a
disaster in terms of the hard surfaces amplifying every sound and the fact that when the
cabin door swung open, everyone in the hallway had a clear view of the person using the
toilet. The curtain created privacy within the cabin. The nights were the worst b/c if any
of us had to use the toilet, we didn't flush to disturb the others' sleep so it felt more like an
outhouse - you get the picture.
Our room wasn't ready when the general announcement was made so we had to wait
a bit. We had several problems w/the room that were attended to but it would've been
nicer to have a fixed room. Our safe didn't work, a cabinet door was off the hinge, the
light fixture over the shower was broken, and worst of all the a/c didn't work the first day
but everything did get fixed by competent staff.
Now for the good...
So glad you encouraged us to reserve the shows in advance b/c they sold out quickly.
Thanks again.
The shows were great not only in content but also in variety. Not sure if I mentioned
to you that our son is a musician - though he's studying music performance on the oboe at
a conservatory, he's into rock, jazz, blues, metal etc and plays several instruments. When
we went to see Slam Allen, a blues guitar performer, our son told Slam know he was a
musician and Slam let him jam with the band several times. He got many compliments
for members of the audience.
Being a musician, our son is very picky about performances and musicianship and
he was blown away, as we were, by the Legends show. We remember the shows on both
the Carnival and Royal ships as being mediocre whereas this was top notch singing.

We've seen Blue Man Group several times and were still thrilled to see them again.
The ship's entertainment director interviewed the group sans blue during the cruise to get
a behind the scenes understanding of their show and it was very interesting.
The Murder Mystery was fun and the Comedy Club was hilarious. The only show
that was a bit Fellini-esque was the Cirque Show. Though the performers was incredibly
talented and the costumes superb, the rest of the show was a bit hokey. Also, we were
given seats in one of the booths and we couldn't see half the show b/c it was blocked
by the balcony and people sitting in front of us - plus the food was atrocious in the tent
for both the Murder Mystery and Cirque. We got a refund for the Cirque show after
complaining.
Finally, they had a magician/comedian who was clever and very funny. Overall, the
shows were fantastic.
The food was delicious with great variety from the Garden Cafe to The Manhattan
Room to most of the specialty restaurants. They all had great service and one or two
superb dishes - we each had our favorites. Our chef at Teppanaki’s was excellent and
funny. They should add Indian and Moroccan restaurants to the others. The only thing I
was disappointed about was that the sushi cost extra money. Which cruise line has sushi
all day long at no additional charge?
The gym equipment was fabulous as were the classes offered. I also loved the dance
classes and I wish they had offered even more dance classes - both line and couple
dancing and some arts and crafts type activities - I mentioned this idea to the cruise
director and he told me about their ship that cruises around the Hawaiian Islands that
offers lots of creative type classes on board.
Overall, the shore excursions that we booked on the ship were fun. We went to
Orient Beach in St. Martin, did the Turtle Cove Power snorkeling trip on a catamaran
called The Cat in St. Thomas, and another snorkeling trip in Nassau. We docked 1.5
hours late in Nassau b/c of a tropical storm - in fact, it did rain on an off during the cruise
but, luckily, not during our excursions.
It was fun being on a ship w/such an international crowd from the staff to the other
guests esp. learning about their countries.
